On the morning of September 27, more than 60 retired teachers and couples who participated in the golden wedding ceremony came back to the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering.
Xiu Guangli, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Cao Na, deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Sun Xianbo, associate dean of the School of Resources and Environmental Engineering and Wu Shiyong, chairman of Trade Union joined them. They expressed sincere gratitude to the contributions made by these retirees. At the meantime, they presented the current challenges in researches and hoped that these experienced scholars can work together with college to overcome the difficulties, which got a strong support from all the presented.
One of the retired professors Lu Zhu also brought with himself a special souvenir— a medal awarded by the Central Committee of the CPC, State Council and Central Military Commission to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. He was a senior professor of Environmental Engineering and won the national innovation prize with his “HW— Tungstate-Based Water Treatment Agents” in 1990.
These teachers played important roles in the process of China’s development. Inspired by them, postgraduate Party members also devoted themselves to serving the old people.
In the Double Ninth Festival, Party members of School of Resources and Environmental Engineering volunteered to pick up the disabled old teachers to school and give out presents for them. They accompanied teachers and listened to their shares about the history of ECUST, research experiences and philosophy of study and teaching. In doing so, they took the theory “never forget where you start, and bear in mind your mission” in to practice.
